In August 2024, BharatBenz, a subsidiary of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), unveiled a new lineup of heavy-duty rigid trucks tailored for the Indian market. These vehicles are powered by an all-new BharatBenz BSVI-Stage2 6.7-litre diesel engine, available in two configurations: 250 horsepower with 950 Nm of torque, and 306 horsepower with 1,200 Nm of torque. This flexibility allows customers to select the powertrain that best suits their specific operational needs.
The new range includes models such as the 2826R (6×2), 3526R (8×2), 3832R (8×2), 4232R (10×2), and 4832R (10×2), catering to various applications including bitumen transport, bulkers, and Petroleum, Oil & Lubricants (POL). The trucks feature a newly engineered joggle frame chassis with riveted joints, providing a robust foundation for diverse applications. Additionally, they are equipped with parabolic-type, grease-free suspension systems to enhance durability and reduce maintenance.
To improve fuel efficiency, these trucks come with the EFFI+ package and multi-drive mode functionality. Innovations such as ‘Minimal Parked Regeneration’ reduce unnecessary fuel consumption during downtime, while ‘Auto Green Band’ maintains engine speed within the optimal RPM range. ‘Auto Idling Shutdown’ conserves fuel by turning off the engine during prolonged idling, and ‘Harsh Acceleration Control’ limits acceleration rates to prevent fuel wastage. The multi-drive mode feature allows drivers to select operating modes tailored to different load conditions, enhancing efficiency during partial or no-load operations.
Safety has been a hallmark feature of BharatBenz since its market launch in 2012. The new heavy-duty trucks continue this tradition by introducing additional safety features, including cruise control for reduced driver fatigue, LED-accented lamps and dual-chamber headlamps for improved visibility, and reverse cameras to cover blind spots. These enhancements aim to provide a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
With these advancements, BharatBenz aims to support the evolving needs of the Indian transportation sector, offering reliable partners designed to navigate the dynamic world of logistics and transportation efficiently. The company emphasizes that these new trucks bring significant improvements in fuel efficiency and operational flexibility, directly contributing to a lower total cost of ownership.
